This is a very intriguing post. Listen to what it has to say with an open mind and you may be surprised at what you’ll find.

‘Ignoring your passion is slow suicide. Never ignore what your heart pumps for.’

Let’s play a game of Russian Roulette.

You and I are seated at a table in a smoke filled room; there’s an old six shooter positioned perfectly between us with a single round floating in one of its chambers. The heavy aromas of mildew and fear cling to your skin causing you to perspire. We’re alone. There’s no one here to save us; the only entrance to the cell is destined to remain locked until only one of us remains. You’re scared. So am I. Our lives have been reduced to this moment where we’ll play a game of chance to see who survives. Nothing else matters right now. It’s just you and I.

There’s a coin beside the gun. We’ll flip to see who shoots first. I pick it up and use my thumb…

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “If You Leave.”

The last thing that I thought of leaving was my job. I have been working this job for twenty years and to say the least, I am sick of it. However it does pay the bills but no more.

So after much delegation I finally said, “Lord if you want me to go then open the door and give me peace about it, if not then keep them closed and show me your will.”

So far I have put in for one job but I haven’t heard anything from them yet but it hasn’t been that long.

The more that I study my situation the more that the Lord is putting it on my heart that I need to change my life and not my job. Those are always the toughest answers to hear. It is so much easier to just drop a bad situation, of your own making, and go start again than it is to tough it out and straighten what you have messed all up.

Tonight I decided to start making those tough decisions that will start to get me back on track. Putting the Lord’s will for my life ahead of my own. Not doing that is the thing that has gotten me in the financial mess that I am in now.

I still think that leaving is an option but leaving a mess behind is not. Get the mess straight first or you will just go somewhere else and make another mess. I believe that is the message that the Lord is trying to get through to me.

And through this post I realize that the last thing that I thought of leaving was not the job but the mess that I need to clean up in my life.

This is one way to praise the Lord. Just to realize something of who he is and what it means to server him is praise to him.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?
Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust.
With whom, then, will you compare God? (Isaiah 40:12,15,18)

Read: Isaiah 39:1 – 41:16, Ephesians 1:1-23, Psalm 66:1-20, Proverbs 23:23-28

Relate: Where are you right now? Are you in your living room or in your study? Are you reading this in your bedroom. Maybe you are in a public place. Are you at a library? Are you in a classroom? I certainly hope nobody is reading this while you are driving, but are you on…

Kissed someone

These are not my words but I wish they were. They are what I have felt. Remember to show love to the one that did write them.
Tony R

Of life she writes.

I kinda have a confession.

A confession that’s not really a confession since I don’t have anybody to confess it to.

It’s not a confession because I didn’t do anything wrong but at the same time I feel like I did.

And maybe confession isn’t the right word

Or admission.

Maybe there is no right word.

But It’s just something I’m compelled to say.

Something so on the top of my tongue that even if I wanted to, I couldn’t stop them from being said.

I kissed someone today.

And it wasn’t you.

I mean, hah, it could’ve been.

I wasn’t kissing you but I felt like I was.

Maybe just the first three seconds.

And then it hit me.

Like,

Kind of like a bucket of water, but It’s neither too hot or too cold but you still feel the wetness and uncomfortableness of sitting in the same clothes…

WHY PRAY IF GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING?

Awesome inspiration for prayer. Read through and find the many reasons that God’s word tells us we should pray.

Beckie LIndsey

church-red doorsPrayer is perhaps the greatest Christian privilege and perhaps the greatest Christian failure.

I think most Christians would agree that we all need to learn more about prayer and pray more often. So why then don’t we?

Let’s face it—we have some prayer hang-ups.

One major reason we don’t pray better than we do, is that we have questions which lead to uncertainty. Uncertainty affects our faith which in turn affects our prayer life.

Last week we established that prayer requires faith and how to grow in our faith.

(See last post: http://beckielindsey16.com/2015/10/13/prayers-that-go-beyond-the-ceiling/)

One of the questions that can affect our faith is:

Why should we pray in the first place if God already knows everything, including what we’ll ask Him for?

A problem with this line of questioning is it diminishes the purpose of prayer to a simple means to get God to do what we want.

We…

Insomnia

Guys don’t miss this. It is a very interesting and talented poem.

avbarber

My name is Andrew Barber and I am an insomniac!

As a tired sun melts into an endless horizon and Azure skies are lost to fire – the fall of darkness brings peace to the noise of daily life. If only peace were enough to bring the relief of sleep.

I have seen the sun rise before my eyes have closed; the dawn chorus is my lullaby and not my morning call to rise. Were I a farmer I would milk the cows before going to my bed and breakfast is best served at noon.

Each night, the house and I, we talk. For the creek of a door and even the shrinking floor, all have voice. I turn and turn again, but the bed, once so soft, is now of rock – hard beneath my skin!

Softly and in whispers – the wind beckons to those who would defy…

What do You Want

Sounds like a good one to me.
Tony R

MentorWinston

Ever wondered what you really want in life? Some people will say they want houses whilst some will speak of happiness yet in real essence most people do not really know what they want.

Most people are unhappy because they speak in general and hence have no idea what exactly they want in life. If you ask a person what they want in life the most likely answer is that they want to be happy. Happiness is a good thing but how many people actually know what it means to be happy or what is required? As children we are taught that once we grow up our dreams will come true and we will be happy. The problem with those expectations is that they never really identify what is happiness and where it comes from. In the end we have married people around us who just don’t get why happiness…

Clear your mind of can?t. I believe that you can eat your way to a beach-ready body for the summer. Trimming off those extra holiday pounds might be a hurdle and a half, but don?t give up now!

Be patient and follow these 10 steps

1. SET PRESENT-TENSE GOALS! It all starts by having clear and realistic goals. Write a list of things you want to change about your diet. Incorporate goals that you have for your body and plan your new lifestyle around those objectives. How to do it? Set present, short them and long term goals. Write in the present tense. Pin it up somewhere in your house: a place you know you won?t be able to avoid (like the fridge). Take it one goal at a time. Take your time to achieve your goals…

Making Simple, Local Positive Change

We sure need to learn this lesson in America. If we don’t learn it soon we may lose our opportunity.

Simple Living Over 50

grpCommunityToo many people today sit around and complain about the role our government is playing in our society here in America. They are not happy with so many things from poverty, homelessness, our health care system, mental illness, gangs and violence on the streets and earning a fair wage for work. The problem I see is that they don’t understand the true nature of government in a free nation. Their is a hierarchy that must be followed to make change happen and it always starts with yourself.

1. Yourself
2. Community
3. City/Town
4. County
5. State
6. Country

Whatever positive change you would like to see must start with the person you look at in the mirror each day. If you see the same problems in the mirror then change must start there. What are you doing to make your community a better place? Do you even know the…

6 Steps That Will Give You the Life of Your Dreams

I command you. Read this and don’t stop until you finish it. Me. I am going to find the book that Danny is talking about and I am going after a few dreams myself. You should do the same. Failing is not a shame but not trying is.

Dream Big, Dream Often

So a few years back I was at a point of frustration professionally as I desperately wanted out to be out of the golf business.  I was really tired of the long hours and working every weekend and just wanted out.  I had spent the better part of my adult life working at or managing a golf course.  I just couldn’t figure out what to do.

And this is a huge problem for a lot of people, especially those that feel like they are underachieving in life.  Many like me have made this statement, “I know I am meant for something better or greater than this, I just don’t know what it is.”

And it is at this place in life that can cause a tremendous amount of frustration when in actuality it should be the most liberating experience ever!  For it is at this moment that you have the chance to be or…
